Jinka itself is a good size town whose center is dominated by an old grassy airstrip. Nowadays only small, private chartered plane land amid the small wooden stalls. There are a few hotels, standards are modest. Basically all tourists eat at the same restaurant.

The museum up the hill must not be missed. It exhibits the work of young German and American PHD students. For their research they interviewed women of different ages from various ethnic groups. The topics all related to the every day lives of these women. The hard work they are expected to do without complaining, the relationship to their husband and his family and also sensitive issues like female mutilation. An excellent BBC documentary “Tribe” about the Bull – Jumping ceremony can also be watched there.

Latest news, the road through Jinka is being fixed right, not paved, just fixed. Why we mention this is the reason: the prime minister is visiting a big festival this September.
