Gilles – Looking Back At 2014 & Towards 2015
2014 turned out to be a year full of challenges and surprises, some (really) bad, others much better… One thing is for sure, 2015 will be no less full of surprises, as many decisions have not been made yet!
Looking back…
The professional challenges I encountered in the first half of 2014 were some of the worst I ever experienced, but somehow turned into a great opportunity to questions many things and to finally take some decisions I had been postponing for months (years?)…
To make a long story short: I quit the “cubicle” (another runaway exec?) and hit the road again, for an undetermined period of time… The plan is to travel partly by myself, partly with my father to take him on some kind of “Bucket List Trip” and to spend the remaining time in Vienna.
The first Escapade as father and son in Laos & Cambodia was Grand! The first days of “Traveling Solo” have been good fun, and extremely different from traveling as a couple, with both positive and negative sides. More on that later on GrandEscapades.net!
Looking forward…
2015 will be clearly marked by traveling: Vietnam (alone), Myanmar (partly alone, partly with a fellow traveler I will first meet in Mandalay), India (with my father, stay tuned for “The Bucket List Trip – Part II” & San Francisco / California (visiting the American side of the family).
I will finally go back to Vienna mid of April, and see if opportunities (some already discussed) actually arise.
If they do? Good!
If they don’t? Good! I will be then heading to the Middle East (Iran, Jordan, Israel, Egypt) & especially to my beloved South America!
What keeps Heidi busy?
Heidi is still juggling her job and local politics and she loves both. With elections coming up next year, 2015 will be even busier. She loves her beautiful hometown Vienna and wants to do her share to keep it such a great place to live…
Heidi does have some travelling plans as well…. Having always been a great fan of New York City, her enthusiasm got a new boast after she met Jan Gehl, the urban designer who helped re-shape and change how New Yorkers move around in their city. So she plans a visit NYC over the Easter holiday.
Looking forward to seeing you in Yangon, Vienna or Medellin
