Calculating the costs so far in advance is a quite challenging undertaking: so much can change within the next three years. Moreover, traveling with a 76+ year old, there is no way to “rough it” as we sometimes do, when necessary, for a short period – Not that we like it a lot…
Traveling Around the World in 2007 – 2008, we spent 20.700 € per person for one year (see “Budget for a Round The World Trip”). Almost half of that we spent within 2.5 months in the Pacific Region. For these upcoming trips, most of the countries will be relatively cheap places to travel to, except those in Africa. Safaris in Zambia, Botswana or Tanzania – no matter where – never come cheaply. So Gilles expects to spend less than on our Round The World Trip. Give or take a few thousand Euros, that means approx. 14-16k € a year.
