The start of this one-month trip to Russia’s far east was super easy. My first stop was Moscow where I was welcomed by Sanita and Yuili in their riverside apartment. I met Sanita in 2011 in Ethiopia and we have stayed in contact ever since. There is no better way to get to know a place than with local friends.
After some homemade Borsch we strolled Red Square, followed the redbrick walls of the Kremlin till we got to a beautiful church.
At Balcon, a hip restaurant, we finished off this great evening.
The day after I cruised the Moscow River on a two-hour boat trip, a perfect and very relaxing way to see the city. The boat station was conveniently located almost in front of my friends’ apartment. The guide’s explanations were in Russian only, unfortunately.
While I was enjoying the boat trip a “master” was replacing the screen of my mobile phone, it broke when I dropped it. No big deal, the guy came, fixed the thing in 15 minutes for US 100.
Late afternoon I left for Irkutsk adding an overnight flight to my jet lag
